2016 SEASON 1 1:12 SPORTSCARS 10.5T ROUND 2 Orlando Indoor

05.02.2016

Report by J-P.Huhtala (VRC race reporter)

2016 Season 1 and round 2, Orlando Indoor

After start of the season from Bangkok, racers traveled to Orlando. This technical track is located at the Snowbird Hot Rod hotel in Orlandao. Many drivers who raced at season start at Bangkok had passed this race, reason we do not know but there was enough gladiators to give us a good race. At qualifying it looked that its going to be two mans deal, who would take the TQ. Bailes once again was on fire, Raistrick with 4seconds difference at second place. Danas average lap was 10.4, Graham`s one 10th slower. Third place went to Hong Kongs Carson Yeung, he was one lap down from leader.

Before the final, it totally was waited that also final would be two mans deal, of course if both would manage to drive without mistakes. From start of the tone Bailes started his consistent running, lap by lap he slowly increased the gap to Graham. He got one mistake at lap 30, but it was tiny one, and didnt affect anything to Dana`s concentration. Dana`s pace was one 10th faster than Graham`s and of course, this was enough for Dana.

Behind these two was coming battle trio, Carson Yeung, Eliasson and Correia battled of last place at the podium. And this was tight trio. Yeungs mistakes in laps 8 and 20 took total 6seconds, Eliasson also got mistakes at lap 1 and 15, also these took that 6seconds. Instead of this Portugues lightning Nuno Correia, he started as fast as Eliasson and Yeung. He were more consistent and it looked that he was going to take that last podium place very easily, until lap 41, three laps before finish it happend. He cutted too much at corner 9, and this Orlando track doesnt forgive anything and Nunos car collided with wall.
Yeung was pleased and drived to last podium place but only 0.8 seconds before Eliasson.
All in all, race was nice to watch and it gave good heartbeats to the audience.

Oh...that i didnt noticed.
So, all three made guite same amount of mistakes in seconds. Maybe you did 1sec more and this shows at the clock. Average was guite same all of you...

For the record i did make 1 mistake in lap 0 that make me lose +- 3s to Carson and +-2s to Eliasson, i was able to get back to the figth but then the mistake in lap 41 end my chances.

Good race guys, great report Jupe.
