Bruno Eliazord, VRC PRO Reporter & Pro Driver.

READY, STEADY, GO for the new season of 1/8 nascar truck ! We are pleased to welcome you here at Cincinnati for the first round.

The Nascar Truck class is very popular on VRC, for many reasons. Firstable, it's well known in the USA as the third division of the Nascar Series. There's a lot of action in the races. And you know what ? It's exactly the same on VRC PRO : a lot of fun, thanks to a fast car with few aerodynamic, so the driving is sometime loose, and always at the limit of grip.
This serie is also famous on VRC PRO, because you've got four rounds to do your run : the free practice, the qualifying, the bump up, and the main final. You've understood : you've got the opportunity to drive a lot, and time enough to learn the track if it's a new one for you.
The last reason is that all the classes, club, sport, pro, are mixed, so it's now or never if you are a club driver to challenge sport or pro drivers.

Let's see now what happened during the qualifying round :

83 drivers took part of the qualifying round, representing 24 nations, and the poleman is once again Jeffrey « Superman » Rietveld !

Main Final :

On ten finalists, three drivers did not start : Miquel Heireijgers, Ugo Calaprice and Jose Angel Vera.

At the horn, everybody take a good start on this wide track. No mistake, but after the first lap, the ranking has changed a little: 1/Jeffrey Rietveld, 2/ Graham Raistrick, 3/ Joshua Berman, 4/ Pierre Dumusc, 5/ Philippe Gross, 6/ Jukka Pekka Huhtala, 7/ Maurizio Mazzocchi.
In the lead, lap after lap, Jeffrey stretches the gap with Graham and Joshua. Joshua willing to take back his lost second spot at the start.
Nevertheless, the big fight is more in the back of the race, for the 4th spot between Pierre Dumusc, Jukka Pekka Huhtala, Philippe Gross and Maurizzio Mazzocchi.
At the beginning of the 3rd lap, Pierre Dumusc make a very little mistake, and Jukka Pekka, asked no more to overtake him. I told you, these 4 guys are really close in this race.
The troubles of Pierre Dumusc are not finished yet, because in the 5th lap, just at the beginning of the straight line, he hits the curb and his car spins around. The time to restart, Philippe Gross and Maurizzio Mazzocchi, overtake him.So from this point, Pierre has no time to lose to try to come back strong in this race.

At five minutes, just before the first pit stop, Jeffrey Rietveld is still in the lead, followed by Graham Raistrick, who resists to the attacks of Joshua Berman for the gain of the 2nd spot. Than Jukka Pekka Huhtala, is 4rd, and Maurizzio Mazzocchi continues his good race, beeing now in the 5th spot, in front of Phillip Gross, who has some difficulties to resist to the come back of Pierre Dumusc.
During the first pit stop, unfortunately, Maurizzio Mazzocchi commits, how can we call this, « a stupid mistake », hitting the wall at the exit of the pit lane, and staying blocked. All his good efforts are destroyed now, and he loses two positions, falling in the last spot. We hope, things will go better for him.

At mid race, Jeffrey Rietveld has catched up with the last drivers. Behind him, the fight between Graham and Joshua is magnificent. They are in the same lap times. At the 21th lap, Joshua, known as the « Captain America », uses his incredible strenght to finaly overtake Graham. But, who said that Graham would be ok with that ? So you can bet he won't let « Captain America » succeeds in his mission.

Pierre Dumusc fights like he has nothing to lose, and he's right, because he overtakes Philippe Gross. So the ranking is now :
1/ Jeffrey Rietveld, 2/ Joshua Berman, 3/ Graham Raistrick, 4/ Jukka Pekka Huhtala, 5/ Pierre Dumusc, 6/ Philippe Gross, 7/ Maurizzio Mazzocchi.

At the end of the race, Jeffrey « Superman » Rietveld wins with one lap better than Joshua « Captain America » in second. Graham « Charles from X-Men » in 3dr spot, has fight until the end trying to take control of Joshua's mind, but this one has been able to resist. One lap behind, our excellent VRC Race Reporter : Jukka Pekka Huhtala, makes a great result with his 4th spot. Pierre Dumusc is 5th, Philippe Gross 6th, and Maurizzio Mazzocchi is in the last spot.

The final ranking is :

1 / Jeffrey Rietveld / Pro / 45 / 15:18.512
2 / Joshua Berman / Pro / 44 / 15:14.936 / +1 laps
3 / Graham Raistrick / Pro / 44 / 15:15.176 / +1 laps
4 / Jukka-Pekka Huhtala / Pro / 43 / 15:11.684 / +2 laps
5 / Pierre Dumusc / Pro / 42 / 15:05.520 / +3 laps
6 / Philippe Gross / Pro / 42 / 15:07.624 / +3 laps
7 / Maurizio Mazzocchi / Pro / 41 / 15:00.226 / +4 laps
8 / Miquel Hereijgers / Pro / DNS
9 / Ugo Calaprice / Pro / DNS
10 / Jose angel Vera / DNS

I invite you to take a look at the ranking of the B Main Final, where the fight has been even more tight :

12 / Robert Yelle / Pro / 42 / 15:10.844 / +0.604s
