NEW C2 COMPOUND TIRES FOR 1:8 NITRO ONROAD SAT. SEPT 7TH

We will release the new C2 compound front and rear foam tires for 1:8 nitro sportscars. This compound has been developed to improve acceleration and braking performance, and to improve turn-in response and stability, bringing to behavior and 'feel' closer to modern 1:8 scale nitro on-road cars. We expect a serious improvement of lap times by 0.3 to 0.4 seconds and expect current standing time-trial and lap-records soon to be broken!

The C2 compound front and rear tires will be available in 32-35-37-40 shore hardness and will be released on Saturday September 7th 09:00 local time. It is unavoidable that the release will affect some events rounds for 1:8 nitro on-road which are running at that particular moment.

We have only tested combinations of C2 compound front and rear tires and we strongly recommend not to mix them up with the standard compounds, as this has not been tested. But of course feel free to do so!

Adjusting tire parameters is an extremely complex process and requires a lot of testing. Tires have over 60 parameters to work with and as I have no in-depth knowledge of the tire physics it was very much a trial-and-error process for me.

Many thanks to a group of beta testers who have worked on testing these new tires extensively.

We look forward to see your feedback on this important performance upgrade for 1:8 nitro on-road sportscars.

They are faster, maybe it has less rolling resistance, but grip is less. Early test, direct swap with old tires, same size no changes....Does not work at all..... Will need to add grip with chassis setting. So far not good. also terrible in any banking, will unload off the corner. Seems to be better entering the corner, but chassis will need a lot of work to fix the center and off problems. may be due holding higher corner entry speed. I run on vrc daily for lot of years, Last time was when during covid lockdowns I have been vice-world champion 1/8 onroad on vrc and race nowadays in proclass in real world , just to say i think i can provide a nice feedback I read some days ago about this big update so i gave it a try and i completely disagree with what Jose Macia wrote above, while i agree with Jimmy. I only tested on Melzo track and i can say there's something strange.. Keeping the same setup i used with old compound, car rear spins when you enter full throttle fast corners while it shouldn't. Car first part of the corner seems equal to before, then in middle completely lose the rear.. And that's ok in slow hairpins when you get no downforce but in fast corners in real you never lose rear. If you adapt and manage the throttle laptimes are a little faster but the feeling it's definitely strange. I tried some fast setup change and things improves a bit, i think completely reworking setup can make laptimes faster for sure, 2 tenths i think. In the end in my opinion this new compound still needs to be tuned, as it stands compare to real i think it's more realistic the old one.

Thanks for your feedback Massimo. Tires are a very delicate matter. In our beta testing we found very possitive results, but mainly with beta testers who don't race 1:8 nitro in real life. I have asked many times for racers to join the beta testing. Especially racers with real life racing experience in specific classes. We can't experiment in live version of VRC, only in Beta testing.

The tires seem to be a little faster in general and require some work on setup probably, but the feel is maybe even more important. The standard compound remains available of course.

The C2 compound was developed for road courses which require a more responsive tire than oval courses.

TEST PERFORMED AT LOSTALLO. Using the same configuration and components. 35 hardness tyres in both tests:

The new tyres provide better performance in all senses, they accelerate better, brake better, have better lateral grip and I manage to improve lap times by about 4 tenths.

It is true that tyres in general and on any chassis have a direct effect on the configurations, so depending on the track on which you are going to ride, it may be necessary to make some modification to adapt the performance of the tyres you mount. For this reason I have carried out the tests on a track like Lostallo, since it has everything in its layout, including very fast and slow corners.

Surely on a track like "VRC Super Speedway Oval Course", and due to the pronounced overhang, it provides different sensations.
In fact I have also tested the tyres on this track, having had to change the configuration to make it work better and be fast, but the result has been satisfactory.
