My Virtual RC Racing 'the Inside Story' is now halfway. It also marks the end of development of VRC version 1 till 3.5 and the beginning of the development of VRC Pro. I hope you have taken the time to watch these episodes and have a better understanding now of how VRC came about, and hope that you have followed it with interest.
The second half of this Inside Story is about the development of the current version, VRC Pro. There is a lot of misunderstanding about this project, especially about the future of VRC. I am totally open about how VRC Pro came about. I therefore advise you to follow the next Episodes of this compelling story if you want to understand the limitations of the VRC platform.

Enjoy the second half of my Inside Story!

Pieter, if it is ever useful, I would also be happy to share my email and a little about my work.
I currently work in the RC industry in China, mainly around technical support, product localization, manuals, software localization and brand-related work. I have also spent quite a lot of time thinking about VRC, especially its localization and long-term usability for non-English-speaking users.
If there is ever anything I can realistically help with, whether it is Chinese localization, documentation, testing, feedback, or simply reviewing something from the perspective of the Chinese RC market, I would be very happy to help without charge.
I do not expect anything in return. I simply respect what you have built over all these years, and if I can contribute something useful to VRC, I would consider it worthwhile.

Thanks for your deep interest in VRC.
The following episodes will answer most of your questions!
And no, I don't regret having made this change in 2005, focussing 100% on VRC. It has not become what I hoped it would but looking back I am really proud of what has been achieved. As proud as what I have achieved with Serpent!

the first half of the series has been extremely valuable, especially because it shows how much ambition, personal risk and long-term commitment went into VRC. VRC Pro is clearly an impressive engineering achievement, but it also appears to have come at a very high strategic cost.
Looking back, do you still believe that developing a proprietary graphics platform from scratch and completely leaving Serpent were the right decisions? Could VRC have remained independent and neutral while you retained a stake or technical relationship with Serpent?
I am also curious whether localization and multilingual architecture were considered during V4 development. For a global RC platform, the lack of a proper localization layer now seems to be one of the important barriers to growth outside the English-speaking market.
Most importantly, which limitations of VRC Pro can still realistically be solved, and which are now fundamental limitations of the original platform?
