Anyone has some FPS info for any current radios? M12s,mt44, dx5r, 7px, M17 or ko exrr?
M17 FH5 on SUR modes. Have been 310 (Idle) - 500 (pressing trigger and turning the wheel) sample rate. Definitely noticed the difference coming from a M12s (FH4/SSR) to this. Unfortunately it seems that the highest speed options (SXR) are not supported.

On 4px w/ r304sb I have reached 125fps and an average of 115

Hi, has the receiver been bound previously? Once the receiver is bound to the radio, there should be no problem. Go to the options screen and use the "Control" tab to set up your radio for the simulation. My son uses an M11 on VRC without problems

As you are a Futaba fan Phillip, here are some other bits of info you might find interesting...
The speed you see can be 'limited or capped' by the equipment you are using.
Any PPM device (DSC or receiver)....max 126
VRC Adaptor 3...max 62 (don't be fooled by this though)
VRC 3NT...max 126
9Turbo accurate.
MHW ProRace 4096...accurate.
Also, the number of channels you are using will effect the fps. My Futaba's seem to be locked to 3 channels (unless I use the Spektrum SR3000hrs Combo, this is locked to 2 channels but only jumps to 280 fps).
KO Esprit Universe III is quite good, you can change from 2 to 3 channels in the settings (and it does make a difference....even in DSC mode). Same with Sanwa M11 or Exzes PLUS...these go to either 2 or 4 channels.
Funnily enough, the older HRS Futaba stuff gives higher readings than the newer FASST stuff....40MHz R203HF HRS 270fps...FASST R603FS 200fps but YOU MUST TRY THEM....the feel they give is very similar. The Spektrum SR3001 PRO combo IS PPM, so in effect your limited straight away (71fps).
As you have seen, using none HRS, drops the speed. Also using the DSC port (forcing the device to use PPM), will drop the fps. But the consistency of the signal is better (less jittery).
The MHW has software with it that allows you to see the fps and level of jitter...(quite neat really).
In general, the actual feel of the setup and the way the car drives on the track is the ultimate test. Turning in too fast on some tracks can be a nightmare. THUMP!! Slower turn in and smoother driving on others is better VRC Oval for instance.
Also, don't forget about the Options > Control Options...Advanced settings...dead band etc..these also have an effect (as do the expo's).

Like he has found, this is most definitely the smoothest setting with his tranny. (FYI I have only seen the Futaba 4PKSR and Sanwa M12 to have a faster reading so far...both about 300)
Don't be confused with the fps that you see while you are racing....this is the frame rate that the game/monitor combination is running (again highest is best though).
I have also found that using different speed's on the tranny does effect how the car 'feels' higher is smoother but also gives a sort of floating effect. Lower is grainier, but sometimes gives a more 'grounded' feeling because the car is not 'floating'. Try using an 8th nitro car on the different speeds. 5.5, 11, 14 ms etc. On some trannys, you can do this by switching from FHSS1 to FHSS2 for instance.
Thanks Graham for your comments. I have not tried different adapters, but it sounds like I may have to get the one you are using. I believe that using the best available, affordable equipment leaves only "the loose nut behind the wheel" as the weak link.

its not the fps from the game frames, is the fps for the transmitter.

I was under the impression lower FPS was better in the case of transmitter latency? I am wrong? well that is good to know, as my Transmitter has 3 settings, I can get framerates of 57fps, 95fps, and up to 125fps with the 5.5ms latency setting. I thought the 57fps felt smoother and more comfortable to me, but If that is the case, I am going back to the 5.5ms setting. Thanks for info :)

What I am saying is that the higher the fps your radio is capable of producing, the more fine control you may have. If your radio gives 70 fps, when your servo sees the first signal, a higher rate radio's servo already has had it's first pulse and has started to move. I am not saying it will make you a better driver, just that a small advantage can be had with a faster frame rate, my opinion.
I am not saying to ditch your old radio and buy a new one. I already use my 3PK with my Losi 22 on an indoor carpet offroad track. I just discovered the bonus frame rate while calibrating it. Fortunately I can lay my hands on lots of equipment so what you see is the end result and I thought it was worth sharing with all my VRC buddies.
