2017 SEASON 1 1:10 ELECTRIC TC 13.5T SPEC ROUND 5 CARPET JPH
Fifth round race of 1:10 electric tc spec 13.5 serie was raced at Carpet JPH circuit.
At PRO level we saw very intence and tight semifinal round as the first five drivers were inside one second. Austrian talent Christian Löb was fastest and took pole for the final. Dana Bailes got second grid, with 0.6s margin to Löb. Nedrebo and Saputra were third and fourth, 0.728 and 0.844 seconds behind pole winner. Britains Ben Gayson filled this pack and was fifth fastest, 0.862s behind Löb.
By these results we could expect anybody from this group to take this one, and also behind this group was five talents more. Carson Yeung at sixth grid wasnt easy opponent either, but he needed to find two 10th`s more pace, if he wanted to challenge those guys at front.
Dana Bailes and XRAY ride
When main started, Löb, Bailes and Nedrebo had very tight racing. Löb was holding the top spot, but it was noticeable that he wasnt in perfect rhytm. He was cutting those corners very tightly, and this helped Bailes and Nedrebo to chase him. From the fifth lap Bailes got his ”racemode” on and it was goodbye to others. Dana was not overwhelming, but everyone knew that if you let Dana for run away, you were in trouble. Behind Bailes, Löb was still struggling with those ”cuttings” and Norwegian talent Nedrebo start to pressure him. Actually, Nedrebo was in same pace as raceleader Bailes and with this pace he passed Löb at 8th lap. But was it lack of rhytm or what but he cutted the corner at lap 10 and this dropped him to 6th place.
After Nedrebo mistake, Indonesian Hijrah Saputra, who started from the fourth grid, had now raised his position to third.
With his consistent and fast drive, Dana Bailes crossed the line in first position and took well deserved win. Our TQ driver Löb had to settle to second place, 2.7 seconds behind Bailes. Saputra secured last podium place, with tiny 0.4s gap ahead of Nedrebo. Nedrebo continued his furios driving after his unfortunent mistake and raised two places at the end.
At SPORT level, French driver Adri Antomarchi was unstoppable. He won the race with 5 seconds gap before Thailand`s Somdej Tumrongrajniti and was only one, who got full 17 laps at this round.
Behind Tumrongrajniti was very tight pack. Australian Pryor, Finland`s Hartikainen and two American`s Crowell and Weber were all inside 1.4 seconds when race ended. Pryor was toughest from this group and got last podium place. Very close race!
SPORT level start, second corner. Antomarchi(blue/white) was unstoppable
CLUB level victory was solved between two Japanese drivers. Obata Hideki and Ryusuke Yamaji had great battle, Yamaji was unfortunent as he made his only mistake at first lap and this gave him two seconds more. Hideki and Yamaji had no huge difference in pace and when Hideki hold his nerves, Yamaji had to settle to second place. So, Hideki crossed the line in first place, Yamaji 3 seconds after him in second place. Phil Schai was in stable third place as the race ended, he had over 11 seconds from the winner and 6 seconds to fourth place.
Japanese teammates Hideki and Yamaji dominated the CLUB level
