VRC Pro is an r/c racing sim, meaning we simulate racing r/c cars. R/C cars are raced from a rostrum 2-3m above the track level to have a good overview of the track. All VRC tracks the have the rostrum positioned and at a height corresponding with the real track. Our own designed tracks, which are not based on real tracks, have similar rostrum positions and view points.
Following long and intense discussions in the VRC forums, and using common sense, I have decided to use only rostrum view for official VRC events, starting 2025 Season 1 series.
Weekly events and club events will continue to have free choice of view point.
The popular 'Time trial' mode will remain with free view position for now, as reverting back to forced rostrum view would invalidate all standing track records. It would also require changing the VRC program (executable file) for both VRC and Steam.
I know that this decision will not satisfy everybody but remember, it is only common sense: VIRTUAL RC PRO IS AN R/C RACING SIM
I hope this will now end the 'nasty' discussions. Let's go racing!

Good decision. I agree. It's nothing new to me, I've driven from the rostrum all the time

Over ten years it has been aloud & now it’s a problem !
Funny stuff really
"aloud" OR allowed ? As a german native speaker I might not know...
Anyway you behaved within the rules as far as I can say! Now things will change and you hopefully will find another way managing your eye handicap.
Good luck and thx Pieter for that clearing solution!
It was there for all to use ( so the few calling it cheating is wrong ) still a silly decision I think to not allow it ! But life goes on & it’s just a game after all .
It is a game that above all aims to resemble as much as possible RC in real life. For that reason, if it had been up to me, it would never have been possible to pilot from any other view than the normal one from the podium.
A simulator must resemble as much as possible what happens in real life.
