1:8 NITRO GT3 AND NASCAR TRUCKS WORKING

The good news is that the 1:8 nitro GT3 class (also Spec) is available again in VRC Pro. The bad news is that the setups of these cars you saved in the past for your GT3 cars and 1:8 NASCAR trucks, are no longer working. This is due to a complex restructuring process of components and default set-ups to enable the introduction of the new GT3 Club Racer class. Keep in mind that I am doing this all by myself with a good but not 'full in depth' knowledge of all the component and set-up structures, let alone all the complex underlaying structures like series and events, replays, rankings, track records etc.

I will try to explain...

It starts with car class definitions, in which we define what scale, what surface on- or off-road, rally, mixed, nitro or electric, what body style, and transmission 4WD or 2WD, and last but not least modified or stock (=spec). Some of these definitions or restrictions include 'unspecified'. For example the 1:8 nitro on-road chassis is used for both canam, sportscar and truck classes, so the body restriction for that chassis is then set as 'unspecified' which means that all bodies can be used on that chassis. But if the chassis has surface=offroad restriction only bodies with restriction=offroad can be used. This defines the type of car, on what tracks it can be raced, and which components must be used in order to fit in a certain car class.

You can probably imagine that it's quite a complex structure and it becomes very complex when you are going to create a new car class which is just a bit different, like a different body and different wheels and tires, like 1:8 GT3. The problem here was that GT3 already had 2 classes, modified and spec. In order to make these 2 classes not to interfere with existing on-road classes like 1:8 nitro on-road using 'canam' bodies and 1:8 nitro NASCAR trucks I had no other option then to declare transmission=2WD for the GT3 classes although they used 4WD of course. That worked well, until I decided to add a 3rd GT3 nitro on-road class: 1:8 nitro GT3 Club Racer 2WD. It was impossible to come up with a set of class restrictions to fit this new class in. The only solution was to change the class definition for GT3 and GT3 Spec to transmission=4WD. But this had serious implications as several components used in the other 2 classes could not be used in the GT3, especially wheels and tires. GT3 uses rubber tires and different style wheels! And this apparently conflicted with 1:8 nitro onroad classes Sportscars (canam) and NASCAR trucks which I only found out after releasing the new 1:8 GT3 Club Racer class. At first I did not know what was going on but slowly found out what the problem was.

The only what to resolve this was to create new wheel- and tire-components for the 1:8 NASCAR truck, with the consequence that this would obsolete all set-ups, both the default and the user created set-ups. Same for the GT3 class. Of course I had to do this for the 1:8 NASCAR truck class and not for 1:8 Sportscars, for obvious reasons.

As said, I am managing VRC Pro all by myself, for as long as I last. Virtual Racing Industries is a one-man operation with Tony West doing the graphics jobs on demand, and one developer from day 1 overseeing the servers. That's it. It's actually amazing that VRC Pro is still alive and kicking, for one reason only: I am immensely proud for what we have achieved with such a small team and still enjoy giving this project my all, as said, for as long as I last. Therefore you will just have to accept that these things can happen occasionally.

Enjoy the new GT3 Club Racer class!

Thanks for the explanation
we forget how hard you work for us and then , You get all the grief!
I knew you would sort it out.
As for set ups, well I think its not too bad for every one to start again
