2017 RACING CALENDAR PUBLISHED

05.01.2017

The new 2017 Series have now been published.

REGULAR SERIES
For the regular classes Season 1 starts Saturday January 7 and consists of 8 events with 3 week intervals. The Spec class will be raced first, and the week after the modified class will be raced on the same track. Of the 8 events your best 6 results will count for the Series Championships. All events will be raced in Pro, Sport and Club racer classes. Rally-X has now its first official series as well!

All events have 3 rounds, Qualifying, then Semi final for the Top-40 only, and the Main final for just the Top-10. The reason for this change is that we see quite low participation in the lower Mains. With this new schedule we hope to see a full Main final participation. With 3 racer classes we will accommodate 3x40=120 racers in the semi finals, and 3x10=30 racers in the Main Finals. The Series events start Saturday morning 09:00 GMT and finish Monday morning 08:30 GMT to allow racers from all time zones to have equal racing opportunities.

NASCAR TRUCK SERIES
The NASCAR Truck series are monthly series, 12 events of which 8 will count for the NASCAR series championship. The events have 4 rounds of 1 week each. Qualifying, Quarter finals for top-30, Semi-finals for top-20 and Main finals for top-10. The series are now for 3 racer classes, Pro, Sport and Club.

WEEKLY'S
Besides the official Series we have weekly events for the most popular race classes. As before, the Weekly's is just qualifying and don't count for any ranking or championship. Rally-X now has its own Weekly's on the X1 track, alternating in normal and reversed direction.

Check out all the 2017 Series

We hope you will enjoy your 2017 virtual r/c racing!

we have till June to come up with something, have a few other things to mind right now. Will get back on it soon.

Posted by: Pieter Bervoets (NL) on 17.1.2017 15:58:56 (UTC) bump up is for example top-4 go straight to main final, next 20 are split 1-3-5-7-9 and 2-4-6-8-10 etc over 2 semi finals, best 2 from each go to main final and remaining best 2 from semi's. That would be typical bump up system
Pieter, I think this new bump up format will be welcomed by everyone if we do not eliminate the racers from #21 to the remaining in semifinal and final. What we can do is only top 20 racers enter the semifinal A&B such that A main finalist decided by this semifinal A&B. Other racers from #21 and below still race in semifinal, but this semifinal is only for main finals grip ranking, no bumpup to A main. And of course everyone still have main final to race. This should make semifinal bump up become realistic, solved the time zone problem, everyone can race until main finals. Cheers

I agree with Carson. You can run this format without excluding any of the lower racers... then it would be good.
But this isn't a traditional bump up format. This is a "Christmas tree" (odd-even brackets).
I think that's what's causing confusion. Some of us are thinking A,B,C,etc some thinking Xmas tree .
Still, both can work with bump ups (which just means top guys in each heat moving up to race in higher heats in next round).
it won't be exactly like real life since we race all at once, not in sequence... but we can still come up with a good system that'll be fun & not "meaningless" .

Posted by: Christoph Rathje At the 11th place I´m not qualified for the A-Main. And that´s ok. But if you aren´t qualified for the A-Main you can´t race the last round. There is just the A-Main qualified. So you aren´t be able to race this round. The result is 15 points. And this isn´t good... Edited by author: 17.1.2017 10:24:13 GMT
this is obviously a mistake in our calculation method, we will correct it as soon as possible. Of course racers who did not make the last round should get the points rewarded as per their position in the end result. It's getting more complicated though as we now also should consider DNS in semi final round... Sorry for the misunderstanding

The VRC Team is working on that problem...

Hi vrc team easy question about the Round 1: Boss Speed Tokyo 1 8spec. I have got 14 points why not 58 points? Of course i know just the top 10 could race...the other couldn't race. ciao and see you on track :-):-):-)
21.01.2017 [21:27]
I have to say i really like the way the events are spread this year, it makes racing multiple classes allot easier
20.01.2017 [14:12]
For me duration between qualifying and semi final (two evenings) is too short...I easily missed out this week Rally-X spec semi round because I was not able to drive those two days.

Posted by: Rudolf Aigner (TH) on 18.1.2017 3:28:00 (UTC) Hi Pieter, any thoughts about a "Super Final Race" at the end of each season where only the best racers of each class will race together to get the top racer of the season? Maybe an attraction for some guys to race more often and go for the maximum of points? Just an idea. Cheers Rudolf Aigner
maybe allow only top-50 to race in Race of Champions Seriesn, ideas, ideas...

Hi Pieter,
Top 50 over all classes may be enough not to make it too easy to be able to join the "Super Final".

It should be something special to participate.
Cheers
Rudolf Aigner
