Much to my disappointment and regret I had to cancel the Race of Champions multi-player events due to totally unforseen issues with our multi-player setup in the VRC office. Multi-player has never been an issue but apparently some recent changes to the firewall configuration has caused the multiplayer connection to fail completely, both inbound as outbound. The firewall expert unfortunately was not available on Friday and together with another developer we have tried all Friday afternoon to locate the issue and solve the problem, but without success. The firewall is a proprietary piece of software built in 2010 and regularly maintained and updated and has never failed me since.
What I learned from this is to test the fundamentals before you organize anything. It was without a doubt that multi-player would work as usual and I therefore never even considered testing it. Another Bottosso/Wollanka showdown in this 30 minute VRC Worlds Main Final. Erik Bottosso, the 24 year old rising start in the VRC world seems unstopable in his quest to add another VRC Worlds title to his lawrels. Multi VRC champion Wollanka, from 1:12 till 1:8 nuggies, had to cope with the incredible consistency of the young Italian, especially after he dropped back to 9th right after the start...

2 'new kids on the block' Erik Bottasso from Italy and Liron Bizor from Israel in this exiting 1:8 electric buggies Worlds at Fear Farm. Bottasso was the class act though, you've got to check out his run (see below, amazing consistency at a pace not matched by any of the others. Billy Caley in a solid 2nd place but with a hard charging Liron Bizor behind him, then falling back once more to catch up again, having to pass Carry Crowel and Like Skywalker 3 or 4 times.

The Welkom RC Arena in South Africa, host of the 2018 IFMAR Worlds 1:10 ISTC, now the venue for the 2023 VRC Worlds 1:10 ISTC. A close battle between the top 4, Wollanka, Smid, Salemi and Cernohous, just 2.5 seconds in it in the end.
TRACK COMPARISON
A bonus ' track comparison' between the 2018 IFMAR 1:10 ISTC Worlds track and the 2023 VRC Worlds 1:10 ISTC track at the end, showing amazing similarity between the real and virtual track. The virtual video was speeded up by 5% to match the car positions on the track, mainly because the VRC track curbs and corners are slightly less forgiving than the real track. The comparison made clear that our current 1:10 ISTC car lacks a bit of punch, the speedcontroller and motor physics models require some work it seems...

First major race on the new Xtreme Racing Complex Big Oval, the biggest and fasts r/c in the world. Speeds of the NASCAR trucks in exces of 125km/h! Jimmy 'King of the Ovals' Flack again put to the test, this time by Aussie Stephen Haliday. Also the fight for 3rd between Nutty Fox from the UK and Matt Reddick, Matt Reddick (USA) and Andrea Novati was a tight battle.

Another new track for the 2023 VRC Worlds 1:10 nitro sedans. The immense Welkom RC Arena asphalt indoor facility in South Africa, host of the 2018 IFMAR Worlds 1:10 and 1:12 electric onroad racing, is such a great r/c facility that we took the liberty to create a few lay-out by ourselves... Welkom RC Arena 3 is a great track for 1:10 nitro sedans and for sure we will also host 1:10 electric touring cars and perhaps even 1:8 nitro sportscars! The 1340m altitude offers an extra challenge for engine setup! Multiple World Champion Austrian Martin Wollanka and Italian Mirko 'the Hulk' Salemi go head to head in this 30 minute Main Final.

The 2023 Worlds RallyX is raced at the new VRC Dirt 4 DRIFT track, an new lay-out at the VRC Dirt Complex which should be the ideal drifting stage for the RallyX cars. And did it? Look for yourself and judge. With adding the new mid-track hairpin this goal was certainly achieved. It turned out to become a spectacular drifting frenzy with the worlds best RallyX racers!

The big question for this race was: Where was Jimmy? Stephen Halliday surely looked like a serious challenger to 'King of the Ovals' Jimmy Flack but it wasn't to be, Jimmy didn't show up for this race... It turned out to be an impressive Stephen Halliday show, with an incredible consistancy only displayed by Jimmy earlier. Only for this unique performance of the Aussie you should watch this video!

The nitro powered 1:8 GT3 cars are racing the most ondulated on-road race track in the world: Sao Paulo in Brazil. Imagine some 6m height difference between the front straight and the back straight! The scene is set for a great battle for the 2023 VRC Worlds GT3 title!

We are racing on the brandnew indoor asphalt oval course at the impressive Welkom RC Arena, South Africa, altitude 1340m...! The 1:10 NASCAR truck has a new aero package for lower areo drag and higher topspeed, a new challenge presented to the VRC racers.
