Half way the R2tW contest young Italian Kevin Pignotti is still in command but the heat is on. Aussie Chris Stack has now moved to within 0.6 sec. from provisional pole sitter Pignotti, with Nicola Marrone just 1.4 seconds away. With 6 weeks to go Pignotti is now under pressure, but doing 18 laps in 5:04 consistently he remains the hot favorite to win the R2tW contest and the free ride to the IFMARE Worlds in Heemstede. The winner will not only earn completely free traveling and stay in Heemstede, he will also get the full backing of industry leading companies Serpent for the chassis and LRP for the electronics.
Kevin Pignotti is only 16 years old and does not have any experience racing 1:10 electric. But he surely is a great talent and is currently the man to beat in VRC Pro events. In real life Kevin races 2WD 1:8 scale nitro, a relatively small class. Pignotti was the convincing winner of the 2011 Virtual Worlds 1:8 at Luxembourg and 3rd in the 2011 Virtual Worlds 1:10 ISTC behind Ronald Volker and Martin Wollanka, two world class racers in real 1:10 ISTC. Pignotti also led all the 2011 rankings at the end of 2011 except for 1:10 nitro, proof his exceptional talent!
