There is a discussion among members about the duration of main finals of official VRC events. Some members expressed their concerns that too long main finals has a negative effect on the participation in official VRC events. A much voiced argument is that VRC racing is very stressful for the eyes, much more than in real r/c car racing. I am interested to hear your opinion on this matter. I have created a poll with a simple question:
Are Main Finals for official VRC events:
1: just right
2: too long
3: too short

There is probably very little understanding why tires are such hard things to get the feeling spot on. So, try to absorb the below mini 'lecture' on R/C car tires and a physics tire model.
HISTORY
Tires are the most complex part to understand, be it for real cars, and in a sim it is even more complex! A lot of research has been done by tire manufacturers and universities to understand how tires work and what affects the tire characteristics. Now consider trying to come up with a good 'tire model' for r/c cars using foam tires. Zero reference to go by as foam tires are not used in the real car world. So we had to do all the research ourselves. 'We' meaning our physics expert Todd Wasson who had not even seen an r/c car race when he took on the job of physics engine developer for VRC...
CREATING A STARTING POINT
The only thing we had available in 2000 when Todd started working on this, was data from the Serpent DRX-2000 datalogger, especially of our home track in Heemstede. With that data we could extra... read more

We will release the new C2 compound front and rear foam tires for 1:8 nitro sportscars. This compound has been developed to improve acceleration and braking performance, and to improve turn-in response and stability, bringing to behavior and 'feel' closer to modern 1:8 scale nitro on-road cars. We expect a serious improvement of lap times by 0.3 to 0.4 seconds and expect current standing time-trial and lap-records soon to be broken!
The C2 compound front and rear tires will be available in 32-35-37-40 shore hardness and will be released on Saturday September 7th 09:00 local time. It is unavoidable that the release will affect some events rounds for 1:8 nitro on-road which are running at that particular moment.
We have only tested combinations of C2 compound front and rear tires and we strongly recommend not to mix them up with the standard compounds, as this has not been tested. But of course feel free to do so!
Adjusting tire parameters is an extremely complex process and requires a l... read more
