World Championship RC Club VRC!
In Southern California USA we are spoiled with great weather 95% of the year, we have an overabundance of indoor and outdoor tracks. With the abundance of tracks comes opportunity for races to challenge the RC driver at any level. While at my local track “Coyote Hobbies” last night I overheard a conversation and promptly butted in and voiced my opinion. The conversation was on the topic of series races. I am all for series races, there is something about combined points over time rather than just a one and done type race that is attractive to me. Dave Batta the owner of the track asked if I would race a big series like JBRL, “Jimmy Babcock Racing League” the JBRL is the most popular racing series in Southern California followed closely by Top Notch Series both offer Electric and Nitro Series. Racing Backwards
Okay so here is the deal, Off-road tracks are made with the jumps to flow in a single direction, when you reverse them it can have some adverse effects. RCE 13 is difficult to run in reverse but not impossible, there are a few challenges that require the drivers’ full attention. The table, double, doubles after the whoops are three sections that can be a race breaker. Swing wide in the turn clear the table, punch it for the double and coast over the last double and you have it made, mess up on the turn and take your chances on three jumps. I ended up on my lid more times than I would like to admit.
The winner of this week’s Pro 13.5 and Mod events had the section wired along with the rest of the track.

Aan de eerste wedstrijd voor de Benelux Cup hebben 30 rijders deelgenomen, dat aantal kan dit seizoen alleen maar groeien.

CLUB
De spannendste klasse was ongetwijfeld de Club rijders klasse. De 8 minuten durende finale werd op het scherpst van de snede uitgevochten. Lang zag het er naar uit dat Gijs Verkoyen (NL) de wedstrijd zou gaan winnen, maar een verkeerde landing na de grote sprong in de voorlaatste ronde, gevolgd door te veel haast om de verloren tijd meteen weer goed te maken, zorgden ervoor dat zowel Yolan (BE) als ook Richard Kema (NL) uiteindelijk voor hem eindigden. De strijd om de 2de plek werd met slechts 0.07 sec. in het voordeel van Richard beslecht, een fotofinish dus.

Aan de eerste ronde in deze cup hebben in total 25 rijders meegedaan, 17 in Club, en 4 om 4 in Sport en Pro klasse. De race vond plaats op de RC Speedway met de short lay-out. Een oval met een chicane en twee hairpins, dus een niet al te moeilijke baan die close racing mogelijk maakt. Dit is een van de gratis banen in VRC Pro!

CLUB
In deze klasse is weer fel gestreden om op het podium te komen. Davy Wilms had een hele goede start en kon al in de eerste ronde een gat slaan van meer dan 1 seconde en bouwde deze voorsprong geleidelijk uit naar 2.6 sec. op de finishlijn. De strijd om de 2de plaats was nog feller. Pas in ronde 20 kon Vincent van Gansen eindelijk Ronald Duijkeren paseren om uiteindelijk met een miniem verschiel van 0.3 sec voorsprong de 2de plaats te pakken.
