2017 SEASON 1 1:10 ELECTRIC TC 13.5T SPEC ROUND 6 CRF Lausanne

18.05.2017 Video:

Report by VRC race reporting

2017 SEASON 1 1:10 ELECTRIC TC 13.5T SPEC ROUND 6 CRF Lausanne

Technical and also demanding circuit of Lausanne was hosting 6th round of electric touring car series. At this track you had to be very precise with your lines and braking points, and also those curbs didnt give anything for free.

Spaniard Jhonny Hernandez earned the pole position from semifinals, Britain`s Reece Hodges was only 0.6s behind at second place and Austrian Christoph Löb in third position, with 5.7s gap to TQ.
When grid was arranged, it was bit unfortunent that Hernandez wasnt there and by this, all pressures moved to Hodges.
From the tone, Hodges was leading the group with very stable rhytm. First corner in 3rd lap, Hodges made hungry cutting and Xavier Deparde got the lead. Next four laps Deparde was setting the pace, but Hodges was furiosly chasing on his tale. At this point Mathias Nedrebo was in third and Dana Bailes at fourth place. At 8th lap, Hodges had lifted himself back to first place and Deparde was in second. Bailes was closing the gap to Nedrebo and 20th lap, Bailes passed and got third. Hodges had drived great final, but Deparde wasnt an easy peace. He was pressuring Hodges all the time in one second distance.
There was only 30s remaining when Hodges got in trouble, in technical mid section he flipped his car and Deparde got even closer. But it wasnt over, immediatly at next lap in very same curbs, Hodges made "hungry" cutting, flipped his car and Deparde got the lead. From this point, Xavier continued his great pace and got well deserved win. Great drive from Xavier!! Hodges instead had dropped to third place by his mistakes, and Bailes was in second. Last two laps Bailes, Hodges and Nedrebo were really close fight of the podium places. Finally Bailes hold his nerves and crossed the line in second place, 1.3s behind winner. Hodges got third, 0.1s distance to Bailes and Nedrebo in fourth, 0.1s behind Hodges.

Xavier Deparde, PRO level winner

At SPORT level Denis Lavrentyev and Anssi Hartikainen were in mainroles. From the start it looked that Hartikainen is taking this, so nice pace he had. But after 3 minutes, Hartikainen slightly lost his rhytm and this was Lavrentyev´s chance. Pace was pretty much same rest of the final, and after 14laps Lavrentyev had got the lead. With this order they came to finishline, Lavrentyev first and Hartikainen in second place. Thailand`s Somdej Tumrongrajniti drove to third place.

Hartikainen and Lavrentyev solved SPORT level victory

CLUB level race was really intence. Two Japanese drivers, Hideki and Yamaji, German Phil Schai and Swiss Andy Kunzli served great entertainment in this race. This track indeed showed it toughness for these drivers, so tight battle this was to the very end. Everybody had some struggles to keep the rhytm and stay away from those curbs.
Finally Obata Hideki took the win with 0.7s margin before Ryusuke Yamaji. Phil Schai was third, 0.04s bhind Yamaji. Kunzli had to settle to fourth.

Few corners before finishline, this close was CLUB level battle. Hideki, Schai, Yamaji and Kunzli served good entertainment

Posted by: Reece Hodges (GB) on 21.5.2017 18:13:11 (UTC) This track was way too technical for me! If I tried to drive slow I would make more mistakes, so just had to push the whole way through and hope for the best haha, nice report Jupe :)

Still, you were favourite to win this, so great your pace was. Of course, 5 minutes is duration and all seconds and minutes are counted. Sorry for you, those last two laps were not on your side...
