My first RC I ever got was from a Tower Hobbies backpage ad in Radio Control Action magazine for TAMIYA combo kits. The only one that took my interest was the Blackfoot. This was in the 80's. After a year or two, I was at my local hobbyshop and there it was. The Kyosho USA-1 Nitro Crusher. I was in love. I told myself, "You will be mine." I asked if they had a layaway plan. They said "For you, I think we can work something out. You're always in here. Too bad you can't work yet or I'd give you a job!" So, I saved and I saved and I kept making the payments. Finally, after 11 months, I had the final payment in my hand. I went in and came home with my baby. To this day, I still have her. She is way over 20 years old. She was neglected but I never got rid of her. Since Covid, I pulled her from storage and started my restore of her. Now, she is looking new. Just like she did when I built her. I will have pictures posted very soon of what she looked like when I pulled her out of storage and how beautiful she is now. |
