VRC CHAMPIONS BERMAN AND YELLE BATTLE AT MESSINA AS AMERICANS SWEEP PODIUM
PRO LEVEL
“Juggernaut” Joshua Berman of the USA earned another victory in the 1:8 Nitro Sportscar Event at Messina. Berman has been an unstoppable force (aka Juggernaut) in both the 1:8 Nitro Sportscar Modified and Spec classes as of late. The Juggernaut’s recent successes includes victories in the final three races of 2016 Season 3 for both 1:8 Nitro Sportscar and Spec series; victories in the last four races of the current series in both 1:8 Nitro Sportscar and Spec; a second-place finish in the 2016 1:8 Sportscar World Championships and is the reigning 2016 1:8 Sportscar Spec VRC Pro World Champion.
However, the Juggernaut was pushed to the limit at the recent 1:8 Sportscar event at Messina as VRC welcomed back VRC World Champion, Rick Yelle (USA). Yelle, who has won multiple VRC World Championships, including the 2014 1:8 Sportscar Spec class, returned to VRC after nearly two-year hiatus. Yelle ... read more

2016 Season 1 and round 5, Messina
At fifth round this electric 1:10 ISTC spec series travelled to Italy, Messina circuit. This track is on the island of Sicily in the south of Italy. The track hosted 2005 IFMAR World Championship for 1:8 scale sportcars, and it was wonned by racing legend Lamberto Collari. Lay-out of this track is guite simple but this makes it even more difficult to gain time and make a difference.
Earlier race, in Carpet 1 circuit was wonned by Hungarian talent Barnabas Toth. Finnish Viljami Kutvonen and Swedish Christian Holmström were giving a hard time to Toth but finally Hungarian was the strongest at there. After four rounds, serie is leaded by Indonesian Hijrah Saputra, Graham Raistrick from Britain is at second place, but only one point behind Saputra. 2013 VRC world Championships 1:10 200mm nitro at Messina - Italy
PRO CLASS
2012 Race2theWorlds winner, 2011 and 2012 VRC World champion and 2013 Italian 1:10 ISTC champion, official Team Associated driver Kevin Pignotti from Italy has added yet another major title to his young r/c racing career. In convincing style he drove to a 1 lap lead victory over UK’s Graham Raistrick and a 2 lap lead over Barnabas Toht from Hungary. The young Italian had to drive hard this time, after 6 minutes into the race there was just 2 seconds separating the first 3 cars! Only in the last 5 minutes Kevin was able to catch Graham to finally put a lap on him. Toth was the only one of the top-3 runners to change tires midway which in the end probably cost him 2nd spot as both Pignotti and Raistrick were able to maintain low lap times until the end.
In Pro Nations ranking Germany took first spot with a strong 4th place finish of Lehmann and 5 cars in the top-23. Austria took 2nd spot with Ingo Graf making the A-Main to ... read more
